Much Badu about Nothing
Spades is extremely disappointed that music lovers on these shores have been denied a chance to enjoy the vocal gymnastics of Miss Badu. Once again, the powers-that-be has shown to be ignoramuses who only respond with knee jerk reactions. The soul chanteuse has since shown that she has no tattoos of any sort on her body and the pix in question was for a movie poster in which she starred.
Even if she did have the Arabic word for God tattooed on her body, Spades thinks that it’s nobody’s business but her own and religious zealots need not be stirring up shit for the sake of some column inches. And Spades also thinks that everyone should bloody well stop buying The Star for unnecessarily publishing that picture and making Malaysians look like backward imbeciles in the international media . . . again.
However, Spades does not condone the action taken by the publication which is to suspend the two editors, who are conveniently being made scapegoats for the whole fucking fiasco. – R. Bala
