Kraftwerk – Retrospective 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 @ MoMA, New York City | April 10 – 17, 2012

If there was any need for further proof that all the best gigs are taking place somewhere where we aren’t, well here it is: Kraftwerk will be playing eight shows at MoMA NYC from April 10 – 17. Each night of Kraftwerk – Retrospective 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 will feature an album from their catalogue in order of their release, beginning with Autobahn, Radio-Activity, Trans Europe Express, The Man-Machine, Computer World, Techno Pop, The Mix and Tour De France. These eight shows won’t be a straight ahead performance of the albums but rather a 3-D visualisation of each.

What is terribly tragic about this is that tickets were sold within an hour (is this any surprise?). Needless to say, this has raised the ire of fans who are now venting that a good proportion of the tickets were reserved for (clueless non-fan) VIPs and well-connected hipsters who would be annoyingly snapping away with their Instagram. After all, how else could one explain that the success rate of MoMA staff getting tickets themselves was near zero. Scalpers will definitely be making a killing while fans have taken to begging on Craigslist.

But what really made the whole sorry episode akin to rubbing salt into a festering wound was that Kim Kardashian tweeted that she had secured tickets to one of the shows. Little did we know, Kim Kardashian is a Kraftwerk fan. - Nick Mun
